Meet Doreen Seratt
Hello, I’m Doreen Seratt, the Controller at Kroeschell. In my role, I lead the accounting department and work closely with Greg Salzman, our CFO. I’ve been part of the Kroeschell team for about 11 or 12 years, and it has been an incredible journey filled with growth, learning, and strong connections.
A Day in the Life of a Controller
Contrary to what some might think, my work is never routine. Each day brings new challenges and tasks, making every day different and engaging. We serve both internal and external clients, providing essential support to project managers, executives, and customers for invoicing and payments. This dynamic environment means we’re always learning and adapting.
Memorable Experiences
One of the most rewarding aspects of working at Kroeschell is being part of a cohesive and supportive team. In my first year, I joined the MS Ride, a charitable event that truly highlighted the company’s commitment to giving back and fostering team spirit. Even as a newcomer, I felt incredibly welcomed and supported by my colleagues, making it a memorable and heartwarming experience.

A significant part of my role involves helping clients, especially when they face financial difficulties. Opening lines of communication and working together to find solutions is very fulfilling. Supporting clients through cash flow challenges helps maintain strong, trusting relationships, and it’s rewarding to know we’re making a difference.
Childhood Dreams and Career Growth
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, but life led me down a different path. However, my journey at Kroeschell has been just as rewarding. I find great joy in teaching others. Sharing knowledge is empowering, and guiding someone to that ‘aha’ moment is priceless. This applies not only to accounting but to problem-solving and understanding processes that can prevent larger issues in the future.

When I first considered joining Kroeschell, I was hesitant. I wasn’t actively looking for a job while caring for my sick dog at home. However, my mentor encouraged me to apply, highlighting the company’s supportive and family-like atmosphere.
