When you are one of the nation’s leading research and care facilities, maintaining critical operations 100% of the time is a top priority. That’s the challenge Rush University faced and the reason they contracted with Kroeschell.
Challenge
Rush University Medical Center recently underwent a major renovation of its campus that includes opening a new 376-bed hospital and upgrading the Rush Orthopedic Building. With the expansion of its research capabilities and patient care, the University needed to bring utilities in-house to ensure the integrity of critical operations.
Solution
Kroeschell’s knowledge and expertise with operating central energy plants made it an easy decision for the University to bring us on to manage all critical operations.
This involved maintaining:
- Four (4) boilers
- Five (5) central filters
- Eight (8) chillers
- Eight (8) cooling towers
- 15 air handlers
- A reverse osmosis water system
Currently, Kroeschell has dedicated an 11-man crew operating three shifts per day to ensure there are no breakdowns or unscheduled downtime.
Results
Since taking over the University’s central energy plants, the medical center’s critical operations have functioned without power interruption. As a result, the University has expanded Kroeschell’s role in providing operational service and support.
